CFC50 2019 High School RANKINGS (12): More upsets in BC, champions crowned in QC, MB, plus major matchups to come

No. 1 St. Thomas More Knights (9-0*, 1-0) – STM didn’t get a chance to run their stuff in the GHAC semifinal this past week as Frank Hayden forfeited their playoff game. This sets up a matchup already getting pumped…the CFC50 Nelson Lords for the GHAC final. Do the Lords have enough ponies to get the job done and take down the dominate Knights? We’ve see upsets all weekend, but we think the Knights will come out of this one undefeated as they go to the OFSAA Bowl.

No. 2 St. Francis Browns (8-0, 2-0) – The Browns are one step closer to that Tier 1 provincial title with their win against CFC50 LCI, 17-1. It will be CFC50 Harry Ainlay once again who will get another shot at becoming the champions after the Browns beat them to it last year. This is always a fun one, it’s anyone’s game.

No. 3 Catholic Central Crusaders (8-0, 1-1) – 46-0* is a pretty convincing win as the Crusaders took down St. Andre Bessette this past weekend for the London District Final. It may not be so convincing this next week as they play a tough CFC50 A. B. Lucas squad for the WOSSAA final.

*will be reported as 35-0 mercy score

No. 4 LeBoldus Golden Suns (9-0) – Saskatchewan D1 champions

No. 5 Saint-Jean-Eudes Condors (10-0) – The Condors are back on top with their 47-27 win over Charles-Lemoyne in the juvenile D1 Bol d’Or. With a perfect season, we’re sure that Santa came early with this gift, one they are sure to savour. Congratulations!

Who’s getting ranked?

For the tenth year in a row, Canadafootballchat.com (CFC) is pleased to bring you the national high school football rankings known as the CFC50.

The CFC50 rankings considers all conference and non-conference games (in Canada and the United States) while scrimmages are not evaluated (there is no such thing as an exhibition game – those are classified as non-conference games) and forfeit* wins are not considered towards overall record.

How is the CFC50 evaluated?

Leagues included in rankings: British Columbia AAA Varsity, Alberta Tier One, Saskatchewan 12-man rural / 6A / Schwann, Manitoba AAA Varsity, Ontario OFSAA Bowl AAA qualified teams, Quebec Juvenile Division 1, New Brunswick 12-man, Nova Scotia (all teams excluding CFC25 eligible teams).

The CFC50 is a RELATIVE RANKING that considers top tier leagues from all eight high school playing provinces (minimum one team represented from each province) and the strength of the league. Additional criteria used to determine the relative ranking are the ability to accomplish winning a championship, the impact players and performers on that team (ie. CFC100s, CDN All-Stars etc.), and a team’s coaching and recent tradition.

The CFC Scouting Bureau consists of CFC Reporters, CFC Scouts, and selected local reporters and scouts who submit local ranking results on a weekly basis. The CFC50 is released every Monday (other than on Holidays) at 12 noon.
