While the NCAA scene begins to take off, you can expect the same in U Sports circles as the regular season turns into recruiting season. We’ve already seen a ton of offers flying from Ontario to West Coast prospects, and CFC100 Jaxon Smith out of CFC50 Salisbury is the latest to receive a call from the OUA. We caught up with the star defensive linemen to learn more about his fifth U Sports offer.
“I couldnβt be more grateful Iβm very happy to see the work I put in season and off season is starting to pay off, itβs a very eye opening experience Iβm grateful for every moment of it.”

It’s been a wild ride for Jaxon Smith, who wasn’t able to end the season on a high note at Sal, but he’s continuing his domination in recruiting circles. Smith already has offers on the board from Alberta, Regina, Manitoba and St. Mary’s – now he can add an OUA offer from McMaster onto the pile. Not many prospects have offers from the OUA, CanWest and AUS, but it’s hard to ignore the presence of a 6’3″, 315lbs bull in the middle of the defence, and he may turn into one of the top interior linemen in U Sports from this recruiting class.
Smith represents the only public offer we’ve registered, but expect the Marauders to spring to life once they’re able to sort out their coaching job, and they should be doing a lot of damage this week at the GHAC/SOSSA playdowns in the Hamilton area.
One reliable connection with the Marauders right now is Defensive Coodirnator, Scott Brady, who was adamant about Smith lining up in Steeltown for his university career,
“Coach Brady was very nice to talk to very helpful and he made it clear that he wanted me at McMaster.”
Smith also adds that it’s been an amazing experience receiving attention from Alberta to Nova Scotia, and everywhere in between,
“As for receiving offers I couldnβt be more grateful Iβm very happy to see the work I put in season and off season is starting to pay off, itβs a very eye opening experience Iβm grateful for every moment of it.”
