York coaches create ‘comfortable environment’

York adds two Ontario commits and out out-of-province commit to their team.

Wide receiver Tavon Hibbert from St. Francis Xavier High School is ready to show the York Lions all that he can do.

Defensive tackle Mohammed Morad Benaissa from Cégep Édouard-Montpetit and tight end Aidan Patton from Bill Crothers Secondary School will also be joining York.

Tavon Hibbert

Two years ago, Tavon Hibbert stepped away from football to attend college. He said he chose York because, after this, “not a lot of schools showed real interest in what I had to bring to a team endearing throughout the recruiting process and it made a big difference in my decision to commit to York.”

The 6’0, 180lbs product of Ottawa, Ontario, added that, “The coaches are friendly and open to questions, creating a very comfortable environment.”

Hibbert, who is interested in psychology, has played for several teams in his longstanding career. He spent five with the Cumberland Panthers (OPFL) and six with the Canterbury Mustangs (NCAFA). He played a year with both the Ottawa Stampeders and the Bel-Air Norsemen in the NCAFA and a year with the Myers Jr. Riders (QMJFL). He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish (NCSSAA) for three years before he joined the St. Francis Xavier Coyotes (NCSSAA) for one.

In 2016 he participated in the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge Top 100 combine. He was a NCAFA offensive player of the year in 2012. He also was a NCAFA team MVP and all-star offensive MVP in 2014. In 2018 he won a provincial championship in the QMJFL.

Mohammed Morad Benaissa

Mohammed Morad Benaissa is from Longueuil, Québec. In high school he played with La Milice de l’École de la Magdeleine (RSEQ). He then joined Les Spartiates du Cégep du Vieux Montréal (RSEQ Division 1) before finishing with Les Lynx d’Édouard-Montpetit (RSEQ Division 2). He is 6’2, 275lbs and has played as a tackle, defensive tackle and nose guard.

Aidan Patton

Aidan Patton of Markham, Ontario, played with the Bill Crothers Colts (YRAA) and the Markham Raiders. Standing at 6’5, 220lbs, he has played as a tight end, slotback, defensive end, outside linebacker and inside linebacker.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
