WR from MontrΓ©al commits to uOttawa

Gee-Gees bring in another commit from QuΓ©bec.

Christopher Ciguineau, a receiver from CollΓ¨ge Ahuntsic, will be heading to the nation’s capital after committing to the University of Ottawa.

Ciguineau’s career is relatively young, having spent only two years with Les Indiens du CollΓ¨ge Ahuntsic (RΓ©seau du sport Γ©tudiant du QuΓ©bec Division 3). The school is in his hometown of MontrΓ©al, QuΓ©bec.

β€œI chose to commit to the University of Ottawa because I felt the need to study outside of MontrΓ©al and be more independent and more responsible with my studies and on a daily basis. I also feel that Ottawa is a great city that is like MontrΓ©al in many ways so getting along won’t be a problem for me,” he said.

Along with the allure of Ottawa, Ciguineau was also impressed with the Gee-Gees’ coaching staff. β€œI think the coaching staff is really dedicated and year after year they work hard to provide this team with the players they feel will make a difference on the field. What’s great is that they do that by recruiting in Quebec and everywhere else in Canada, which is very significant,” he said.

The future accounting student is looking forward to entering his chosen program. He said he would like to work in the business industry. He added that he feels this program can help him obtain his goals.

Nathan Taylor, the Gee-Gees’ special teams and recruiting coordinator, said, “We think Christopher has tons of potential as he is still relatively new to the sport but he was gifted with natural size and athleticism. Given a little bit of time and his hardworking nature, we think he can become a nice addition to our offense.”

This past year, the 6’3, 182lbs football player was sidelined for most of the season because of an injury. However, in his short career, he has made a strong impression on the Gee-Gees recruiters. Ciguineau said, β€œI’d like to thank all the recruiting staff and the coaching staff and I want to say that I am ready to jump all in with my teammates on this new season with the Gee-Gees.”
