No fooling here, Lancers add 2

Lancers add pair from Ottawa to their 2018 class.

When linebackers Owen Ford and Chaz Alain from St. Matthews Catholic High School head to the University of Windsor Lancers, the pair will be looking to fit into the team’s defensive scheme and make an impact early on.

A football team is like a good puzzle. It takes a mixture of talents to work. Owen Ford is hoping that his skills will make a difference on the Lancers. “I chose to commit to Windsor because they are an up-and-coming program with great potential. All they need is to put together little pieces to be one of the best teams in the OUA,” he said. “I know me committing, being one of those pieces, will bring Windsor a lot closer to where we are going to be in the upcoming season.”

Ford, however, is much more than a cog in a machine. “Meeting all the coaching staff, I knew it was more than them wanting me on the football team. I knew they liked what they saw in me and wanted to help set up my future success on the football field and off it,” he said. “They are the most genuine coaches I have met, and I really look forward to be coached up by them.”

In high school, Ford has played for the St. Matthews Tigers (NCSSAA). The 6’1, 180lbs Sam linebacker also suited up with the Cumberland Panthers (OVFL/NCAFA) and the Gloucester Giants (NCAFA). Last season, he captured an OFSAA championship with the Tigers. The Ontario all-star hopes to enter business marketing.

Chaz Alain

Chaz Alain will be joining his Tigers teammate as the pair heads down to Windsor. Standing at 6’1, 220lbs, he also calls the nation’s capital home. In 2014, while on the Gloucester Giants, Alain was named to the all-star bantam team as a running back.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
