Connor began his football career at the age of 13 by playing with various teams in the Niagara Regional Minor Football Association (NRMFA).

He moved on to play high school football for the Saint Michael’s Mustangs  of the Niagara Region High School Athletic Association (NRHSAA) as well as varsity football for the Niagara Spears of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

Additionally, Connor has been recognized for his play with the Mustangs, being selected as a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and a Linemen of the Year Award. During his time with the team, the Mustangs won a championship title in 2011.

Winning the championship will always be Connor’s most memorable moment.

“There was a lot of pressure on STM and we had a very successful season and winning was one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences for our football program at Saint Michael and for the school in general, to raise more spirit,” said Connor. “I’m just glad to have had the honor to win that championship in 2011 with a great group of guys.”

Connor’s father has had the most impact on him on and off the field.

“He taught me right from wrong since day one and has made me a hard worker,” said Connor.  “My father has always been there for me, supporting me in my goals and values.”

“He is the most influential person in my life because he keeps teaching me lessons and discipline. I wouldn’t be at the point in my life without my father, he is my idol.”

Connor also acknowledges his strength and conditioning coach, Dave Lavey.

“He has spent numerous hours in the weight room and on the football field teaching myself how to be a better football player and be a better person on and off the field,”: said Connor.  “Coach Lavey is inspirational in helping me achieve my athletic goals and without him I wouldn’t be where I want to for football because his impact has helped so much.”

In the immediate future, Connor is planning on taking one more year of high school while deciding on what university to attend in 2014.

“I’m a student athlete… student first,” said Connor.  “I’m looking to study political science in university.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
