Westshore Rebels Kick off the 2019 Football Season with Main Camp

Victoria, BC, Canada – July 11, 2019 – The Westshore Rebels are excited to get the season started this weekend with Main Camp at Westhills Stadium. Players have travelled from all across Canada to join forces as the Westshore Rebels and will be on the field this weekend from 10am-12pm on Saturday and Sunday, some of them as first time teammates.

With many returning players from last season such as local talent Byron McKinnon, Linebacker and Tyrese Hogue, Offensive Lineman who have played for the Rebels for a few years and originated from Mount Doug High School, as well as Defensive Lineman Leonardo Ingram and Ronan Silver the Rebels team will be a strong competitor in the Canadian Junior Football League.

Coach Beatty and his staff in the off season have been recruiting to bring impressive prospects to the Westshore Rebels, including new Quarterback formerly of the University of Windsor Colby Henkel, University of Calgary Receiver Brycen Mayoh, University of McMaster’s Linebacker Jesse Zajaros and Polis Koko Defensive Back from the University of Regina. We are also happy to have signed Machuor Akau Defensive End formerly of the Winnipeg Rifles.

“I am excited to get this season started we have one of the best defensive lineups I have seen in years. The talent across all the teams in the BCFC this year is strong and it will better prepare us, or whichever team goes up against the Saskatoon Hilltops in the CJFL championship,” states Head Coach Beatty.

The 2019 season kicks off on August 3 at 2:00pm against the Valley Huskers in Chilliwack. The Westshore Rebels first home game will be against the VI Raiders at Westhills Stadium at 7pm on August 10th.

“Since becoming the Rebels President in 2017 this is the most impressive lineup I have seen, there is huge anticipation for the upcoming season. The amount of talent from not just the players, but our coaches is outstanding and I can’t wait to see how they do on the field,” says Rob Lervold.
