Waterloo welcomes next era of Warriors

Warriors welcome 30 to their 2018 class, including four CFC100s.

The University of Waterloo Warriors have had quite the productive off-season, and they are proud to introduce a grand total of thirty commits thus far to their team as part of the 2018 class.

Lenox Adinkrah (5’11, 175lbs) – wide receiver from Don Bosco Secondary School (Etobicoke, ON)
– “Lenox is an explosive athlete that will add speed and depth to our return game and wide receiver core,” said Darrell Adams, the Warriors defensive and recruiting coordinator.

Riley Birch (6’3, 245lbs) – offensive lineman from Lorne Park Secondary School (Mississauga, ON)
– The Warriors described Birch as a two-way starter from an OFSAA championship program who will provide depth on the offensive line.

Josh Carr (6’1, 275lbs) – offensive lineman from Innisdale Secondary School (Barrie, ON)
– “(He’s) a hard worker who will add depth to our offensive line,” Adams said.

Jet Correia (6’4, 290lbs) – offensive lineman from Sir John A. MacDonald Secondary School (North York, ON)
– Adams said that, “He’s a future all-conference player who has a chance to dress and contribute to the offensive line.”

FPC Andre Coulombe (6’3, 205lbs) – defensive back from St. Mary’s Secondary School (Waterdown, ON)
– “(He’s a) versatile athlete who will compete to play specials,” Adams said. “(He will also) provide depth at the defensive back position.”

Lucas DiCicco (6’2, 250lbs) – offensive lineman from Catholic Central (London, ON)
– Dicicco is a “technically sound offensive lineman from a great high school program who will provide depth on the offensive line,” Adams said.

Brigg Firmi-Medensky (5’11, 215lbs) – fullback from Grand River Collegiate (Kitchener, ON)
– “A local player from a playoff team that will contribute on our specials,” Adams said of Firmi-Medensky. “(He will) provide depth at fullback.”

Jacob Fulcher (6’5, 270lbs) – offensive lineman from Elmira District Secondary School (Elmire, ON)
– A local boy, Fulcher has been described as a top local offensive lineman from a playoff team. “A two-way starter, he will provide depth at the offensive lineman position,” Adams said.

CFC100 FPC Liam Gracey (6’4, 220lbs) – defensive lineman from St. Andrew’s College (Bolton, ON)
– A top 100 player from a top 50 high school, Adams said Gracey will compete to dress as a defensive lineman.

FPC Tyler Greer (6’1, 315lbs) – defensive lineman from Football North St. Joes (Ottawa, ON)
– “A stout interior defensive lineman that will compete to dress at the position,” Adams said of Greer.

George Harper (6’0, 205lbs) – running back from Sir William Mulock Secondary School (Newmarket, ON)
– The Warriors described Harper as a downhill, one-cut runner who will add depth to the tailback position.

Shane Herman (6’5, 335lbs) – defensive lineman from John Defienbaker Secondary School (Hanover, ON)
– Herman has been touted as a top, local defensive tackle. The Warriors believe he will compete to dress as a defensive lineman.

CFC100 Jack Hinsperger (6’1, 220lbs) – linebacker from Mercyhurt Prep in Pennsylvania (hometown Waterloo, ON)
– A top 100 player, Hinsperger is one of two top local linebackers. “He will compete to dress on special teams and defense,” Adams said.

CFC100 FPC Andy Melo(5’11, 185lbs) – defensive back from Royal Imperial Collegiate (Georgetown, ON)
– Another top 100 player from a top 50 high school, the Warriors believe Melo will compete to play at the defensive back position.

Justin Smith (6’2, 200lbs) – linebacker from Arnprior District High School (Arnprior, ON)
– Coming from an OFSAA championship program, Adams said Smith is a two-way starter who will add depth to the linebacker core.

Jacob Surdykowski (6’1, 215lbs) – linebacker from Sir John A. MacDonald Secondary School (Waterloo, ON)
– The second of two top local linebackers, Adams said Surdykowski will compete for a spot on special teams and will also provide depth as a linebacker.

Jonathan VanSchubert (6’3, 270lbs) – offensive lineman from Bear Creek Secondary School (Barrie, ON)
– “A technically sound offensive lineman, he will add depth at the offensive line position,” Adams said.

Niel James Wilson (6’1, 175lbs) – kicker from Saint Andrew Bassett Catholic Secondary School (London, ON)
– The Warriors described Wilson as a strong-legged kicker and punter who will add depth to his respected position.

James Basalyga (6’0, 175lbs) – wide receiver from Sir Winston Churchill CVI (Thunder Bay, ON)
– A CFC all-star and OFSAA champion, Adams said Basalyga will add depth as a receiver.

FPC Matt Dahmer (5’11, 170lbs) – quarterback from Cameron Heights Collegiate (Waterloo, ON)
– “(He is a) smart, strong-armed quarterback who will add depth at that position,” Adams said.

Kyle Harrington (6’5, 280lbs) – offensive lineman from the Okanagan Sun in the CJFL (Victoria, BC)
– Adams said that Harrington is an “experienced, smart, physical offensive lineman who will compete to dress.”

Jamu Iluya (6’2, 185lbs) – wide receiver from Resurrection Catholic Secondary School (Waterloo, ON)
– A three-sport athlete, Adams believes Iluya will add depth as a receiver.

CFC100 Daeshaun Jupiter-Deane (5’10, 170lbs) – defensive back from Wyoming Seminary Prep in Pennsylvania (hometown Pickering, ON)
– A CFC100 player, “he will compete to start at defensive back,” said Adams.

Geryd Lesage (6’2, 200lbs) – defensive back from Superior Heights CVS (Sault St. Marie, ON)
– “(He is a) versatile and physical athlete who will provide depth and compete at defensive back and special teams,” Adams said.

FPC Jamal Mavinga (5’10, 185lbs) – wide receiver from St. Matthew’s Secondary School (Ottawa, ON)
– Mavinga is a “great route runner with strong hands,” Adams said. “(He) will add depth at wide receiver.”

FPC Liam Mutunga (6’1, 230lbs) – defensive lineman from Lester B. Pearson Collegiate (Scarborough, ON)
– The Warriors described Mutunga as a stout, physical player who will compete for a spot on the defensive line.

Immanuel Onyemah (5’10, 165lbs) – wide receiver from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Secondary School (Mississauga, ON)
– When describing Onyemah, Adams said that he is an “explosive player who will provide depth at wide receiver and special teams.”

Aidan Palmer (5’11, 185lbs) – linebacker from David Suzuki Secondary School (Brampton, ON)
– Palmer is touted as the top tackler in the Peel region. Adams said he will provide depth as a linebacker.

Nicklas Sua (5’9, 195lbs) – running back from Mother Teresa High School (Nepean, ON)
– “(He) led the OVFL in rushing in 2017, a physical, shifty runner who will add depth as a running back,” Adams said.

FPC Justin Succar (5’9, 175lbs) – wide receiver from Notre Dame College School (Welland, ON)
– Adams said that Succar, who was a captain on Fighting Irish, a team that came in second at the OFSAAs, will add depth to the receiving core and special teams.
