Waterloo recruit says “best combination” exists at Guelph

Waterloo offensive lineman joins OUA team’s 2016 class

Ben Petrie has found his perfect CIS home.

Recently, the 6’4, 260 pound offensive lineman from Waterloo, Ontario committed to Guelph Gryphons.  Petrie will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

Ultimately, Petrie was attracted to everything the school provided on a gridiron, academic and atmosphere standpoint,.

“The main reason I committed to Guelph was the overall feeling of a big family I got from my recruitment visits,” elaborated the lineman.  “And even though that’s what most programs preach, it really is the case at Guelph.”

“On my visits, I fell in love with the campus and so did my family, as it was the best combination of football, school and social interaction in my opinion. Finally, the generosity of coach Stu Lang to donate tons of money into the program to make it on par with not only Canadian university’s but also American ones.”

Petrie completed a stint with Sir John A MacDonald Highlanders of the Waterloo County Secondary School Athletic Association (WCSSAA).  Among the honours he has received during his career include a selection to the WCSSAA All-Star Team.
