Tyson Hergott, a defensive end from St. David Catholic Secondary School, won’t be straying far from home after signing with the University of Waterloo Warriors.

Hailing from Waterloo, Ontario, Hergott said he was drawn to the school because of the academics. He is interested in taking biomedical science or honours science. He added that he also committed because of “the amount that the university is putting into the football program and the opportunity for playing time.”

When it comes to the coaches, Hergott said, “(I have) lots of respect for Head Coach Bertoia and I’m very excited to learn from Defensive Coordinator Darrell Adams.”

Hergott has spent six years playing football. In high school he was a member of the St. David’s Celtics (District 8). Hergott, who is 6’3, 245lbs, has also suited up as a middle linebacker. He was a District 8 all-star last year.

With his future school confirmed, Hergott is ready to get going. He said, “(I’m) very excited to continue my football career in the OUA!”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
