Vaughan recruit looks ahead to new experience with Blues (VIDEO)

Vaughan defensive end/tight end joins OUA team’s 2015 class.

Julian Romano will be continuing his gridiron career in his home province.

Recently, the 6ā€™2, 235 pound defensive end/tight end from Vaughan, Ontario signed with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. Romano will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

ā€œAside from being one of the top academic universities in the world with a great business program, University of Toronto offers so much to varsity athletes,ā€ explained Romano of his reasons for committing to the Blues.Ā  ā€œThe new training facilities and football program are phenomenal.ā€

ā€œI will begin studying on the St. George Campus and looking forward to being in the heart of the city. The proximity to momā€™s home cooked meals may have factored into the decision as well. We also have a family history of University of Toronto graduates, including my parents, so continuing the tradition seemed a natural fit.ā€
Moreover, the Ontario standout is looking forward to joining a team that he sees a lot of potential in future years.

ā€œThe team is rebuilding but there are high expectations for the upcoming year to build a powerhouse team,ā€ added Romano.Ā  ā€œIn meeting the different coaches over the past few months and sensing their enthusiasm, I know this is achievable.ā€

ā€œIā€™m looking forward to experiencing a CIS playoff game and possibly Vanier Cup while at University of Toronto. Ā I’ve been to a few practices and had the privilege of meeting some of the players and the team dynamics are awesome; great group of guys and I look forward to playing with them in the 2015 fall season.ā€

Romano has played for the Vaughan Rebels of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).Ā  He credits the coaches for getting him to this juncture in his career.

ā€œI have been with the club since the beginning and was very fortunate to have had the guidance and support of a very passionate coaching staff,ā€ added Romano, who has been with the Rebels since 2011.
