Vaughan defensive end/tight end joins OUA team’s 2015 class.
Julian Romano will be continuing his gridiron career in his home province.
Recently, the 6ā2, 235 pound defensive end/tight end from Vaughan, Ontario signed with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. Romano will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.
āAside from being one of the top academic universities in the world with a great business program, University of Toronto offers so much to varsity athletes,ā explained Romano of his reasons for committing to the Blues.Ā āThe new training facilities and football program are phenomenal.ā
āI will begin studying on the St. George Campus and looking forward to being in the heart of the city. The proximity to momās home cooked meals may have factored into the decision as well. We also have a family history of University of Toronto graduates, including my parents, so continuing the tradition seemed a natural fit.ā
Moreover, the Ontario standout is looking forward to joining a team that he sees a lot of potential in future years.
āThe team is rebuilding but there are high expectations for the upcoming year to build a powerhouse team,ā added Romano.Ā āIn meeting the different coaches over the past few months and sensing their enthusiasm, I know this is achievable.ā
āIām looking forward to experiencing a CIS playoff game and possibly Vanier Cup while at University of Toronto. Ā I’ve been to a few practices and had the privilege of meeting some of the players and the team dynamics are awesome; great group of guys and I look forward to playing with them in the 2015 fall season.ā
Romano has played for the Vaughan Rebels of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).Ā He credits the coaches for getting him to this juncture in his career.
āI have been with the club since the beginning and was very fortunate to have had the guidance and support of a very passionate coaching staff,ā added Romano, who has been with the Rebels since 2011.
