Varsity Blues solidifying coaching staff: Gallimore leaves StFX

As announced on social media, Gord Gallimore will be joining the Varsity Blues coaching staff as as the special teams coordinator and academic support coordinator in 2017.

The Mississauga native comes to U of T after five seasons as the StFX University X-Men recruiting coordinator, special teams assistant, speed training, academic support and DB coach. His recruiting classes from 2013 to 2015 has led to five USports all Canadians. There, Gord has helped guide the X-Men from a 1-7 season in 2012 to a 7-1 year in 2016, including back-to-back AUS championship titles in 2015 and 2016. Gord has strong ties to recruit major recruiting hotbeds in Canada, mainly the GTHA.

In his seasons with the Mississauga Warriors Football Club, Gord has been a head coach, defensive coordinator and also the special teams coach. While with the Warriors, his teams won four championships, including back-to-back championships in 1998 and 1999 as a player and back-to-back championships in 2007 and 2008 as a coach. He played his USports football as a defensive back at Acadia and crosstown rival York University.

Coach Gallimore has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Acadia as well as a Bachelor of Education degree from StFX. He is also currently working on his Master’s of Education in Administration and Educational Leadership from StFX University.

Off the field, Gord is a secondary teacher in Peel and he also helps to mentor at risk youth in the GTA.
