UTTLEY: Camps and combines, should I go?

This past weekend, I attended the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (CFCFPC) in British Columbia to do some scouting. Aside from the hundreds of young athletes who attended this camp, there were also a large number of curious parents who were continuously asking questions such as; 1) what camps should I attend, 2) should my kid go to combines 3) should I let my child tryout for the provincial all-star team 4) how do you know you are are getting good value for your money spent, and so on.

There were then some parents who contacted me afterwards, asking these very same questions. I thought I would take time this week to answer these and give them some insight on those topics.

    Coach, I just read your piece on camping. Very well done! Perhaps I am naive but I think anytime a kid can get on the field and improve his skills he is doing himself a favor

    Thanks for revealing some truths and helping us decide what camps our son should attend.
