uOttawa commit returning closer to home

uOttawa adds Ottawa-area commit to their Class of 2018.

Michael Baray, a defensive lineman from CƩgep de Saint-JƩrƓme, has had history with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Baray has been in contact with the Gee-Gees since his rookie year with Les Cheminots du CƩgep de Saint-JƩrƓme (RSEQ Division 3). The coach who approached him then was the same coach that approached him during his cƩgep recruitment. Baray, however, chose a different cƩgep.

ā€œHe is not working there (at uOttawa) anymore since he got married and is finishing his PhD; (I) wish him luck,ā€ Baray said. ā€œAlthough itā€™s different coaches who officially signed me, I really think I can trust them because they are coaches with lots of experience and coaches who I think have a good idea on how to use my abilities.ā€

While Baray was also in the sights of Sherbrooke, he said he chose uOttawa after what they presented him and the amount of interest they showed in him. ā€œI thought about it and it is the best place for me,ā€ he said. ā€œā€¦my family at uOttawa will be closer. I felt like it was time to come back to my neighbourhood.ā€

Baray, who is from Gatineau, QuĆ©bec, added that academically, the school was the right choice. He is interested in psychology and the Telfer School of Business. ā€œThey have great schools for that and itā€™s where I fit,ā€ he said.

Standing at 6ā€™0, 215lbs, the defensive end and outside linebacker spent two years with Les Couguars dā€™Ć©cole polyvalente Le Carrefour (RSEQ) in high school. Baray is a two-time cĆ©gep all-star. He was also Les Couguarsā€™ rookie of the year and best defenseman.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
