The UBC Thunderbirds were unable to defend their Vanier Cup and had what might have appeared to be an up and down season in 2016. However, they seemed to have pulled it together at the end of the season with a playoff push, but fell just a little short to their arch rival, the Calgary Dinos – who they seem to be competing with on and off the field if you closely examine their recruiting classes.
