U of A now home for Westshore Rebel QB

Alberta welcomes a CJFLer to their team.

Scott Borden Jr., a quarterback from the Westshore Rebels (BCFC), has played football across the country, but now he will settle down in Alberta after signing with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

It can be a bit of a challenge to adjust to a new coaching scheme, but Borden Jr. may have a smoother ride with the Golden Bears. β€œUofA was the perfect fit for me. It’s not hard to see how much Coach Morris has done for the team since taking over as head coach and they also run the same offensive system as I did in junior, which I am familiar and comfortable with,” he said.

β€œThe coaching staff to me was very knowledgeable and experienced. They seemed to all be driven towards the same goal of competing in the CanWest and in the classroom. They were a big factor in my commitment. I look forward to working and growing with them for the next 3 years,” he added.

Borden Jr. was also more than impressed with the amenities of the university as a whole. β€œThey have strong academic values,” the future psychology student said. β€œThey are a hard-working team on the rise with some of the best facilities in the country.”

Prior to his days in the CJFL with the Rebels, he spent two years at St. Mary’s University and two with the Halifax West Warriors (Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation.) The 6’0, 195lbs offensive player is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia and has had a decorated career.

In the end, having found a new home in Alberta, Borden Jr. said, β€œI am excited to bring my competitiveness and play style to help achieve our future goals and success at UofA.”
