Sherbrooke welcomes another QuΓ©bec commit to their Class of 2017.
Tom Roadley Trohatos, a free safety from Champlain College Saint-Lambert, is ready to put the U Sports league on notice after singing with the University of Sherbrooke Vert & Or.
It is only about a two-hour drive from Trohatosβs hometown of Varennes, QuΓ©bec to Sherbrooke. The relative proximity to home played on his choice to join the Vert & Or. βI chose Sherbrooke so my family, who as supported me for my whole career, can still be part of my career,β he said. βI (also) know this school will allow me to succeed academically and give me the opportunity to play pro.β
Trohatos, who will be studying physical education, is ready to buy into the new system the coaching staff will be instilling in the team. βHead Coach Mathieu Lecompte is brining in a new mentality,β he said. βThe coaches are great people, really make you feel at home. They also know their football very well. They have a good mix of younger coaches and more experienced coaches.β
Standing at 5β9, 185lbs, he spent five years with Les Aigles de Varennes before joining Les Grizzlis de Boucherville (QuΓ©bec Midget Football League). In cΓ©gep, he played three seasons with the Champlain Cavaliers (RSEQ Division 3). In 2012, he was named defensive player of the year on Varennes and was a defensive back all-star. In these past two seasons with the Cavaliers, he was a two-time defensive back all-star.
βMy goal is to make some noise in U Sports right away,β Trohatos said. βAnd to help the Vert & Or succeed and make a run.β
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
