Fort Erie linebacker becomes newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2014 class.

The Guelph Gryphons are keeping busy this offseason.

Recently, Pat Stairs committed to the OUA team.  The 6’0, 210 pound linebacker from Fort Erie, Ontario was especially impressed with the Gryphons training facilities.

“The weight room is every football players dream,” added Stairs.  “It provides you with the opportunity to grow in every way as a player.”

Moreover, Stairs believes he will receive the best education at the Ontario campus.

“Academically the school was amazing,” expressed the Fort Erie linebacker. “They really go out of there way at Guelph to make sure you excel academically.”

“Guelph just seemed like the perfect fit for me.”

Stairs comes to the Gryphons after finishing his high school career with Lakeshore Catholic Gators of the Niagara Region High School Athletic Association (NRHSAA).  This past fall, he registered 73 tackles (including 33 solo tackles) and recorded two sacks while playing for the Gators. For his exceptional play on the field this season, Stairs was selected as a Niagara ‘AAAA” All-Star. The defensive standout also previously played for the Fort Erie Chargers at the minor level.  Not only does Stairs play linebacker, but he has played at the fullback position as well.
