Team BC announces 62 players to attend final tryout camp in June

BURNABY, B.C. – Football BC released today the list of 62 players who have advanced past the first cut-down stage of tryouts for the provincial under-18 team (Team BC) that will represent British Columbia at the 2011 Football Canada Cup to be held at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta from July 9 – 15, 2011.

The 62 players advancing to the next stage of the tryout process were selected from a roster of over 130 players that attended the Team BC tryout camp at Simon Fraser University over the Victoria Day Long weekend.

The 62-player roster breaks down as follows: 10 defensive backs, 11 defensive linemen, 10 offensive linemen, nine linebackers, 10 receivers, eight running backs, three quarterbacks, and one kicker.

The 62 players on the cut-down roster will take part in an exhibition/scrimmage game in June with the final 40-player roster to be announced following the game. Full details for the exhibition game will be announced at a later date.

BC Secondary School Football Association’s Mt. Douglas Rams and Terry Fox Ravens have the most representation on the cut-down roster with six players each. The Notre Dame Jugglers have the next highest representation with five players. The cut-down roster also features six players from the BC Community Football Association with the Langley Mustangs, White-Rock South-Surrey Titans and Nanaimo Redmen all being represented.
