Team atmosphere draws commit to Montréal

Montréal welcomes a local commit to their 2019 class.

Tommy Mercier, a defensive lineman from Cégep Édouard-Montpetit, is ready to be fully immersed with the atmosphere of the University of Montréal Carabins.

Hailing from Sainte-Julie, Québec, Mercier is content with staying near his family. “I chose this school because it’s close to where I live. I also liked the vibe there when I visited. There is also the fact that I might play during my first year, which is also interesting,” he said.

He added that the coaches seem great and “they’re all good coaches that bring good energy.”

The 6’3, 235lbs defensive end is interested in industrial design.

Mercier’s extensive career has spanned 15 years. He has played with Les Barons de Saint-Bruno and Les Lynx d’Édouard-Montpetit (RSEQ Division 2). In 2017, he was named as an ‘equipe étoile défense’ in the RSEQ D2. The following year he won ‘joueur de ligne défensive par excellence’ and ‘equipe étoile defensive.’

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
