StFX offers ‘a great student and football experience’

The X-Men add one provincial commit and one out-of-province commit to their 2019 class.

Running backs Otito Nwaogu from Regina Mundi Catholic College and CFC100 Jayden Simmonds from Football North St. Joes will be heading out east after signing with the Saint Francis Xavier X-Men.

Otito Nwaogu

Moving out of province is a big decision, but Otito Nwaogu has supporters on his side. “My parents are very supportive about the move to Antigonish and also love the way the coaches at StFX show their passion for sports and education,” Nwaogu said. “StFX offers a great student and football experience in a smaller town, so it’s easy to focus on my goals.”

He added that, “The coaches at StFX are great, supportive and outgoing people who care about the well-being of their players. They do a great job communicating with players and helping them succeed and helping them reach their goals.”

Nwaogu, who is 6’1, 210lbs, is interested in taking human kinetics. He said the coaches take school and football very seriously, “but also make a fun and exciting environment to play and study in.”

In his hometown of London, Ontario, Nwaogu played with the Regina Mundi Catholic College Titans (TVRA) for four years and the London Jr. Mustangs for one. He was the recipient of the Bob Gooder award in 2018.

CFC100 Jayden Simmonds

Jayden Simmonds is from New Minas, Nova Scotia, where he played with the Horton Griffins (NSSSFL). He then moved to Ottawa, Ontario, where he played with Football North St. Joes. He is 5’11, 290lbs.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
