Assistant Football Coach – Offensive Coordinator

St. Francis Xavier University, one of Canada’s leading universities and most prominent athletics program, is seeking an Assistant Football Coach – Offensive Coordinator to join our Athletics & Recreation team. Reporting to the Head Coach X-Men Football and the Director, Athletics & Recreation, the Assistant Football Coach – Offensive Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Head Football Coach providing assistance in coaching, recruiting and administrative duties. Additionally, on a part-time basis, the incumbent will teach skills units within our Human Kinetics Department.

The successful candidate will be an inspiring individual with high ethical and moral standards who will promote values-based sport and comply with institutional, Atlantic University Sport and U Sports rules and regulations. The incumbent will work in partnership with other members of the Athletics & Recreation Department to support student-athlete performance in the areas of skill development, strength and conditioning, therapy and recovery, and academic success.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assigned by the Head Coach include, but not limited to:

  • Team selection, tactical and technical preparation, practice planning, individual skill development, scouting, game and practice film coding and analysis;
  • Directly responsible for coordinating the offense, while coaching a position within the offense, and overseeing the offensive assistant coaching staff;
  • Evaluate offensive team performance and direct the offense during competition;
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of a national recruitment plan while playing a key role in recruiting student-athletes to St. Francis Xavier University;
  • Provide administrative support to the Head Coach including attending and conducting meetings, helping coordinate community initiatives, camps and clinics;
  • Assist in the development of strategies to engage alumni and supporters while enhancing fundraising initiatives for X-Men Football;
  • Collaborate with the Athletics Funds Development Coordinator, the Manager, Varsity Athletics & Communications, and the Marketing & Events Coordinator to develop and implement plans for marketing, alumni relations, student engagement and revenue generation in support of X-Men Football.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Kinetics, Sport Science or related field;
  • Previous experience coaching at the university level is highly desirable;
  • Must possess strong communication and motivational skills, be reliable and bondable;
  • Work within a team environment and have demonstrated proficiency in computer use, playbook and presentation software;
  • Knowledge of current recruiting and video software.
