StFX brotherhood, tradition attracts 3

X-Men add one international commit and two out-of-province commits to their 2018 class.

William Fay, a kicker from Catholic Memorial High School, will be taking his talents north of the border after signing with the Saint Francis Xavier X-Men.

CFC100 defensive lineman Alex Fedchun from Ernest Manning High School and athlete Quinton Hodgson from Fellowes High School will also be joining the X-Men.

It didn’t take long for William Fay from Massachusetts to feel comfortable in his soon-to-be new country. “I really loved the tradition and brotherhood when I visited campus. They made me feel right at home and got me excited to be apart of their family in the upcoming fall. StFX is what I was looking for from both an academic and athletic standpoint,” Fay said.

“I’ve heard only excellent things about Head Coach Waterman and his entire staff,” Fay added. “I got a chance to meet most of the coaches and they all have the experience necessary to lead a group of young men. I’m also very excited to work with Coach Jim Daley.”

Fay spent three years playing varsity football with the Catholic Memorial Knights in West Roxbury, Boston. He will be taking business at StFX.

CFC100 Alex Fedchun

Alex Fedchun has played with both the Ernest Manning Griffins (CHSAA) and the Calgary Wildcats. The 6’4, 250lbs lineman is from Calgary, Alberta. He told the X-Men that after visiting his brother, who is at StFX, he chose the school “because I’m big on family and tradition and at StFX you get both. I’m ready to come in next season and compete.”

Quinton Hodgson

Quinton Hodgson currently calls Pembroke, Ontario, home. He has played for the Fellowes Falcons (high school), the junior varsity edition of the Myers Riders (NCAFA/OPFL) and the varsity Ottawa Sooners (OPFL). He has also participated in the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge. Before living in Ontario, the 5’11, 205lbs athlete lived in New Brunswick for seven years. “I really enjoyed living out east,” he told the X-Men. “Also, StFX has very good academics.”
