Eric Starczala, the towering offensive lineman for the Jacob Hespeler Hawks of the Waterloo Secondary Schools Athletic Association (WCSSAA) and Cambridge Lions of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) will be joining teammate and quarterback James Roberts suiting up for the Guelph Gryphons.

The Hawks had a phenomenal season last year, driving hard to a WCSSAA Championship title, and experience Eric enthuses is his most memorable experience in football. Eric was a crucial part of the Hawks’ engine. Eric was one of four Hawks named to the WCSSAA First-Team All-Star squad, along with Kevin Pham, Wyatt Hogan-Crawford, and James Roberts.

His recruitment to Guelph is the latest in a string of triumphs for the Cambridge, Ontario native, which included being named as Hawks Top Rookie.   It is his ambition for a unbroken continuation of that success that lead Eric to the Gryphons.

“I signed with them because it felt like home,” Eric says. “I feel that it is the place where I will be most successful on and off the field.”
