Small town living appealed to Acadia’s LB commit

Acadia brings in an out-of-province commit to their Class of 2018.

Linebacker Jared McLeod from Centennial High School has known nothing more than his home of Calgary, Alberta, but he decided he wanted a change of scenery when he chose to commit to the Acadia University Axemen.

“I was looking for a university experience different than what I have experienced living in Calgary my whole life,” McLeod said. “I have always loved smaller cities and wanted to live on the east coast, so Wolfville, (Nova Scotia), was a no brainier.”

McLeod won’t be moving across the country without some sense of comfort, however. He said that, “I had always heard great things about Head Coach Cummins and his staff. Since we started talking, it became very obvious that he cares about his players as if they were family and that he loves his job.”

Standing at 6’0, 210lbs, McLeod has played a total of nine season. He wore the South Calgary Colts uniform for six and that of the Centennial Coyotes (Calgary High School Athletic Association) for three. This past season in midget ball with the Colts, he won a CAMFA Division 2 championship to top off his growing list of city titles. In 2015, while with the junior Coyotes, he was named defensive player of the year. Last season, he was a CHSAA Division 1 all-star. He is interested in taking kinesiology.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
