Like many young athletes, Anthony Guay was looking for a school where he felt he had a future. He said he chose Sherbrooke because “I think it was a great fit for me. I really like the city and I think there are opportunities for me.”

Guay, who calls Québec City, Québec, his home, is already fond of his positional coach. He said he really likes his defensive coach, Yan Genest. He added that, “Guillaume Boucher is a great coach who can teach me a lot on my football IQ. (Head Coach) Mathieu Lecompte really has the drive to motivate players and I love that. I am really pleased by the coaching staff and I think they have every tool to create a great football program.”

Standing at 6’0, 250lbs, Guay has played for nine seasons. He spent five years with Les Centaures de la Courvilloise (RSEQ) in high school as a defensive end. He then spent four years with Les Titans du Cégep Limoilou (RSEQ Division 1). While with Les Centaures, he won a championship off an undefeated season. Last season, he was Les Titans’ lineman of the year.

Looking to take his success to the university level, he said, “I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with Sherbrooke University for the next four years.”

Gabriel Côté

Gabriel Côté is 5’10, 165lbs and is from Sherbrooke. He played with Les Volontaires du Cégep de Sherbrooke (RSEQ Division 2). In 2015, he was ranked as the 23rd defensive player in the league with 33 tackles, 1 with lost, 2 interceptions and 1 turned down pass. He was also rookie of the year and a RSEQ division two all-star.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
