SHAW CFL Top Performers (1): Trevor Harris, CJ Gable, Andrew Harris named

Monday, June 17, 2019 — TORONTO (June 18, 2019) – Trevor Harris, CJ Gable and Andrew Harris were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Week for Week 1 of the CFL’s 2019 season.The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

QB | TREVOR HARRIS | EDMONTON ESKIMOS In his first game in green and gold, Trevor Harris put on a spectacle in front of the home crowd as the Esks went on to beat the Alouettes 32-25.The Edinboro University product completed 32 of 41 pass attempts (78%) for 447 yards, three touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown.

In the second quarter, Harris found Kenny Stafford across the middle of the field and connected with a 28-yard pass for the major and to give the Esks the 8-7 lead. With under thirty seconds left in the half, the Waldo, Ohio, native faked the handoff to CJ Gable and slung it to Stafford for the 10-yard touchdown.

His third touchdown of the game came in the early moments of the fourth quarter when Gable caught the 23-yard touchdown.

Harris scored his fourth career rushing touchdown in the final minutes of the game to secure the victory.

USC product and seven-year CFL veteran CJ Gable put on a show in the Esks opening game.

Gable recorded 23 touches for 183 combined yards and a touchdown in Edmonton’s 32-25 win over the visiting Montreal Alouettes.

On the ground, Gable rushed the rock 20 times for 154 yards (7.7 yards per carry). The 154 yards is the third highest total Gable has rushed for in a single game.

In the game Gable had a pair of rushes 20+ yards and four rushes for 10+ yards.

Gable’s touchdown came through the air on the first play of the fourth quarter from 23 yards out to extend Edmonton’s lead to 24-8.

The Sylmar, California native caught all three passes that he was targeted for and resulted for 29 yards.

RB | ANDREW HARRIS | WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS

Andrew Harris, the reigning 2018 Most Outstanding Canadian and rushing leader started his 2019 campaign red hot.

In the Week 1 finale, Andrew Harris recorded 175 of all-purpose yards en route to the Blue Bombers’ 33-23 victory over the BC Lions.

Harris rushed the ball 16 times for 148 yards (9.3 yards per carry) including five rushes of 10+ yards and one rush 30+ yards.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native added five receptions for 27 yards in the first game of the season.
