Saskatoon recruit extends Huskies family tradition

Saskatoon defensive back signs with CWUAA team.

Ben Whiting will be carrying on a family tradition when he commences his CIS journey this fall.

Recently, the 6ā€™2, 200 pound defensive back from Saskatoon has signed with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.Ā  Whiting will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

ā€œI had a lot of teams looking at me but I chose the Huskies mainly because of my grandpa,ā€ explained Whiting of his decision.Ā  ā€œHe used to play back in the day and he explains it as the time of his life.ā€

ā€œHe took me to a lot of the games when I was younger so when they offered me a scholarship it was a dream come true for me. It’s a first class program that always has a chance to compete for Vanier. Iā€™ll be able to play in front of my family and friends which is very important to me.ā€

Whiting has played for Marion Graham Falcons of the Saskatoon Secondary School Athletic Directorate (SSSAD) as well as the under-18 National Team.
