Saskatchewan Huskies make the grade for HB commit

The University of Saskatchewan brings in an out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.

Darien Attridge, a halfback from Belmont Secondary School, went into the recruiting process with a list and he left with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

“I committed to Saskatchewan because the school and program checked (off) all the boxes for my wants and needs,” he said. “The coaching staff is really nice and was an important part in my decision.”

The Huskies are in a transition period right now and are currently flying without a head coach. Attridge wasn’t deterred by this, however. “The coaches were able to assure me that winning wasn’t going to stop happening in Saskatoon,” he said.

The 5’1, 200lbs conference all-star is planning on studying education in the hopes of becoming a primary school teacher. Originally from Victoria, BC, he played six years with the Westshore Warriors, four with the Victoria Spartans (Vancouver Mainland Football League) and three with the Belmont Bulldogs (BC Secondary Schools Football Association). In 2014, he was a Star Bowl defensive MVP.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
