Montréal, October 31, 2016 – Concordia running back Jean-Guy Rimpel, Laval half back Adam Auclair and Montréal kicker Félix Ménard-Brière are the RSEQ University Football student-athletes of the week for the period ending October 30, 2016.

Highlights:

Concordia Stinger running back Jean-Guy Rimpel carried the football 36 times for 234 yards and three touchdowns to help his team defeat the Bishop’s Gaiters 39-6 and secure a semifinal playoff spot when the RSEQ post season gets under way next week.

His performance was one for the record books. Thirty-six carries in a game is the most by any running back in conference history. The previous record was 35 and was shared by Bishop’s Jamall Lee (2008) and Concordia’s Gunner Tatum (2014). It is also the best single game performance by a Concordia running back in the Stingers’ history. His 234 yards beats the school record set by Andrew Hamilton who carried for 221 yards in game versus McGill in 2006.

Highlights:

The rookie defensif halfback had a solid performance in the defensive dual at Sherbrooke this Saturday, collecting eight tackles amongst which 5 where solo, a highlight of the game. Adam Auclair was an important factor in the 14-1 Rouge et Or win.

Félix Ménard-Brière

Highlights:

Freshman place-kicker nailed four field-goals with a perfect performance as the McGill University football team saved their playoff hopes with a 21-8 road victory in the rain at Concordia last Saturday.

Under a constant rain and a freezing cold, Félix Ménard-Brière was the spark needed to heat up the Bleus. The fourth year kicker was successful in all three field goals at 29, 19 and 24 yards in the first half.  This led the Carabins to a 13-0 win and secure them the first position in the Quebec university football conference.  Ménard-Brière maintained a 39.4 yards average in 10 punts.
