Rouge et Or grow stronger by 3

Laval adds two local commits and a CFC100 to their 2018 class.

After signing with the Laval Rouge et Or, CFC100 offensive lineman Antoine Marin from Cégep de Rimouski and linebacker Frédéric Pongo from Cégep Garneau will be looking to make an already dominate program that much better.

CFC60 Joanik Masse, a running back from Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon, will also be joining the Rouge et Or.

Even before he began his football career, Antoine Marin had his sights set on Laval. “As a little kid, I always wanted to play for the Rouge et Or. It’s a dream come true,” he said.

In cégep, Marin played with Les Pionniers du Cégep Rimouski (RSQE Division 3). He said that he is familiar with the Laval’s Carl Brennan, his former offensive line coach. “(He was) my o-line coach for many years and we have a good relationship,” Marin said. “I think the coaching staff is the best in Canada. My coach is a master!”

Before playing cégep ball, Marin played with Les Sélects du Paul-Hubert (RSEQ) in high school. He is a four-time cégep all-star and was the RSEQ’s offensive line of the year in 2017. The towering 6’6, 265lbs tackle is interested in completing his police technologies diploma of college studies.

Frédéric Pongo

By Dorothée Harvey.

Already from Québec City, Québec, Frédéric Pongo needs no introduction to the Rouge et Or. He said he chose the team because of the low cost and the fact that he can stay close to his family. “(They have a) great team, great program and a great coaching staff,” he added.

Standing at 6’1, 230lbs, Pongo is interested in communications and marketing. He spent three years with Les Élans du Cégep Garneau (RSEQ Division 1). In 2105, he was named as the student-athlete of the year.

CFC60 Joanik Masse

Located in Levis, Québec, Joanik Masse will have a short drive over the river to reach the province’s capital. He played with Les Faucons du Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon (RSEQ Division 1) after playing high school ball with Les Corsaires de l’École secondaire Pointe-Lévy (RSEQ). He is 5’10, 175lbs.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
