Rouge et Or appeal is dismissed

Montreal, November 17, 2017 – Following an appeal from the UniversitΓ© Laval Rouge et Or for the suspension of student-athlete Kevin McGee (# 24), an independent Appeal Board the review of the decision rendered by the RSEQ (RΓ©seau du sport Γ©tudiant du QuΓ©bec).

Recall that Kevin McGee (# 24) of the Rouge et Or of Laval University made an illegal tackle on student-athlete Khalil Kerr (# 6) of the Carabins of the University of Montreal at the Dunsmore Cup last Saturday. November 11, consistent with Rule 7 (Offenses and Penalties) – Section 2 (Excessive Rudeness) and Section 3 (Roughing) – Article 5 (Other Excessive Roughness) and Article 16 (Player in Vulnerable Position) of the Rules of Football Canadian amateur. The decision of the commissioner of the college football league was issued after the hearing of both parties, the Rouge et Or of Laval University and the Carabins of the University of Montreal.

Unanimously, the members of the Independent Appeal Board consider the Commissioner’s decision to be reasonable. The decision of the Trial Appeal Panel is final and without appeal.

Since the decision of the Independent Appeal Board does not change that of the Commissioner, Laval University Rouge et Or student-athlete Kevin McGee (# 24) remains suspended for three games. This sanction will be applicable from the Mitchell Cup game tomorrow, November 18, in accordance with U Sports Regulation 90.60.5A.
