Returning home

Winnipeg receiver joins home CIS team.

Ian Lee is coming back home.

Recently, the 6’2, 185 pound receiver from Winnipeg has signed with the University of Manitoba Bisons.  Lee will join the team for the 2014 CWUAA season.

“I am very excited to be joining the Bison program this year,” commented Lee about his decision.  “I committed to Manitoba because it is close to home.”

“There is nothing like being able to play in front of friends and family for most of the season. That among many other reasons are why I chose to play here for the Bisons.”

Additionally, the strength of the football program and coaching staff also swayed the Manitoba receiver to join the Bisons.

“Another one of the main reasons is the receiver coach Blair Atkinson; he has been my mentor for about two years now and has helped me take my game to a much higher level and the fact that I get to work with him every day in practice is going to be awesome,” expressed Lee.  “The football program here, as you know, got a huge boost with the stadium and the facilities are the best in the CIS.”

“This coaching staff is top notch, mix that with the winning attitude in the locker room and you have a place where I think everyone would want to play. The team bond that I experienced during spring camp and how competitive practices were just made it that much more appealing to play here at home. I am blessed with the opportunity to call myself a Bison athlete.”

Last season, Lee redshirted with AUS team, Acadia Axemen.

“It was an incredible experience and I have nothing but praises for their program but it just wasn’t home,” added the Manitoba receiver of his time with the Axemen.

Previous to the Axemen, Lee suited up for the St. Paul Crusaders of the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL).
