Redblacks’ Hebert handed two game suspension

Emerging reports have confirmed that linebacker of Ottawa Redblacks Kyries Hebert will play no part in the next two games and will watch from the sidelines for indulging in an illegal hit.

The announcement was made by the CFL on Monday, as they disclosed that Herbert will face a two-game suspension for hitting Montreal Alouettes receiver B.J. Cunningham on the side of his head in a reckless manner in the course of last Friday’s contest.

The penalty was issued after a telephone hearing which involved Hebert, CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie and a representative of the league’s Players’ Association.

This is the second time that Hebert will be facing suspension as this was preceded by a one-game ban for a hit on receiver DeVaris Daniels of Calgary Stampeders in Week 3

According to the veteran linebacker at the time, he had no plans to change his style of play.

He stated that he had made over 800 career tackles and has been in trouble five times. He added that the illegal incident was not one that occurred in every game.

He added that he would proceed to serve out his suspension and ensure that he was available for his team as his presence is very important for the side. He revealed he was aware that he had very little room for error.

The game ended up in a 22-11 victory for Montreal over Ottawa as Cunningham remained in the game after the hit while Hebert was handed a 15-yard penalty for his rough play. Who would bet on Ottawa winning their nest game without Hebert? You may bet in play here.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
