In Canada, U Sport programs are not allowed to offer athletic scholarships that exceed tuition and student fees. Tuition can vary in each province, but typically most provinces are over $5,000 per year with the average scholarship hovering around $1500.00. The can award AFAs (athletic financial awards) which can cover the athlete’s tuition and student fees in all provinces EXCEPT ONTARIO, which has a cap of $4500.00.

Depending on each province and institution will determine the amount of athletic scholarship the school is allowed to give out.

The NCAA stat is that only 1% of student-athletes earn a full-ride scholarship. Even with this small percentage, athletes still have the goal of being that 1%.

Scholarships are offered at the NCAA D1, D2 levels as well as NAIA and NJCAA levels. D3 schools do not offer athletic scholarships, but may offer some form of financial aid.
