Montreal wide receiver/defensive back joins RSEQ team’s 2016 class.
This fall will mark a homecoming of sorts for Jarryd Taylor.
Recently, the 6’3, 165 wide receiver/defensive back from Montreal, Quebec signed with the Concordia Stingers. Ā Taylor will join the team for the 2016 RSEQ season.
Taylor returns home after completing a stint with Buffalo, New York high school team, St. Francis Red Raiders.
“I committed to Concordia University for a lot of different reasons, but one major one is the fact that I’m coming back home,” explained the two-way standout of his decision. Ā “Being away for three years was definitely an experience, but no doubt it made me the player I am today and for that I thank my coaches down at St. Francis High School in Buffalo, NY.”
While he will have to adjust to being back north of the border, Taylor is excited about the future that lies ahead with the Stingers.
“It’s going to be a battle at camp time; we have some really talented receivers and hard workers, so it’s going to be a hard fought job to start,” commented the Quebec standout. Ā “They have a great coaching staff here and if I learn the playbook and do what I’m told, I’ll be just fine.”
“It’s a definite change, going from playing with kids my age, being a first team all league, having a great senior year, to coming home and playing with kids four to five years older than me, but I love competition. Ā What better way than to compete with someone older, bigger, stronger and faster. It’ll only get me better coming here and I’m glad I made the decision to come back home.”
