RECAP (ONT – PEEL): CFC#12 Ravens clinch North Division 1 top seed, first round bye

On Friday October 30th, the  St Thomas Aquinas Cardinals and CFC#12 St Roch Ravens met for the second year in a row at the Rogers Center for doubleheader regular season games.

Both teams brought spirited and excited fans who enjoyed watching games indoors at the end of October.

The game began with #CFC100 Jevante Stanley opening the scoring with a 60 yards run for a touchdown and giving the Cardinals a 7-0 lead.

The ensuing kickoff saw Malcolm Miller return it 83 yards for a touchdown to even the score at 7-7.

The two defences stepped up for the remaining of the first quarter until Jamaal Nkrumah broke the tie with a 67 yard punt return touchdown to give the Ravens their first lead of the day.

The Ravens forced a turnover of down with 43 seconds left in the second quarter and marched down the field to score with time expiring in the half as quarterback Deandre Rose found #CFC100 Tyrell Richards on a 32 yard touchdown reception to give the Ravens a 21-7 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Ravens defence kept Stanley in check with linebacker Mariano Christiaans making five second half tackles and picking off the Cardinals quarterback. Jamaal Nkrumah and Malcolm Miller scored rushing touchdowns in the second half and Jojoo Painstill took a hook pass, made a defender miss and brought it 37 yards to the house for Rose’s second touchdown pass of the game .

All in all, it was a tremendous experience for both teams and schools and the schools would like to thanks the Argos and the Rogers centre for making this event possible.
