RECAP: CFC 100 Oliveira invincible, CFC #17 Raiders & CFC #12 Crusaders dominate

Both the CFC # 17 Oak Park Raiders and CFC # 12 St Paul’s Crusaders continued their dominance in Week 2 of the John Potter ‘AAA’ division in the Winnipeg High School Football League (WSHFL).

CFC 100 Brady Oliveira led the Raiders to a 51-7 beat down of the Crocus Plains Plainsmen.  This was the second straight lopsided defeat for the Plainsmen this season.

The Raiders run game overwhelmed the Crocus Plains Plainsmen.   CFC 100 Brady Oliveira scored five touchdowns and 257 rushing yards With his five touchdown performance, he tied the WHSFL record for most touchdowns in a single contest.

The running back has been unstoppable after two weeks of play –  over 500 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Oliveira collected his second straight WHSFL “Offensive Player of the Week” Award.

After two weeks of play, the Crusaders impenetrable defense has yet to allow a single point.  The Crusaders routed the Sisler Spartans 51-0. The Crusaders will look to continue their league wide dominance on Saturday afternoon as they host the 1-1 Dakota Lancers.

Both the Raiders and Crusaders are making an early bid for league pre-eminence. The two powerhouses have been impressive after two weeks of play, setting up what is sure to be an exciting contest in Week 6, when the two squads go head to head.

The Trojans bounced back from their Week 1 loss with a solid outing in Week 2, defeating Murdoch Mackay Clansmen 42-7.

Connor Neufeld garnered “Defensive Player of the Week” honors as he racked up 11 tackles while anchoring the Trojans’ defense. After allowing 38 points in their opening contest, the Trojans defense looked solid, allowing just a single score all afternoon.

The Sturgeon Heights Collegiate Huskies defeated Vincent Massey Vikings (Brandon) 20-0. The Huskies running back had a strong outing and is trailing only Oliveira in both overall points and rushing yards, maintaining an impressive 9.3 yards per carry average, and leading the team’s offense.

The Dakota Lancers earned their first victory of the season over the Grant Park Pirates on Thursday evening, as Conor Nedelec scored on a 60 yard kickoff return.  For his performance this past week, he collected “Special Teams Player of the Week” honors.

After 2 weeks, both the Lancers and Pirates are sitting with a 1-1 record

Aside from Spartans 27-16 win against the Vikings in Week one, each game in the John Potter ‘AAA’ Division have been lopsided affairs.

In week three, both the Raiders and Crusaders will look to remain undefeated, while the Plansmen  and Vikings will try to pick up their first victory of the 2014 season.
