Rebels Roll over Huskers

Victoria Rebels snap 3 game skid with 70-13 drubbing of Chilliwack

The 2-3 Victoria Rebels looked to climb back to the .500 mark as they hosted the 0-5 Chilliwack Huskers at Bear Mountain Stadium Saturday.

The Rebels moved the ball with ease and followed up an early Quinn Van Gylswyck field goal with 1st quarter running touchdowns from RB Sam Adu and QB Nick Cobb on a keeper. The second 15 minutes was a nightmare for the Huskers as Adu struck for 2 more running majors in a dominant 1st half, then Cobb threw touchdowns to Kyle Pich and Dallas Holyk. The halftime score was 45-0 Rebels. Sam Adu finished the first half with 13 carries for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The second half was not much kinder to the Huskers as Adu scored his 4th major just over 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter, followed by a Nick Cobb to Travis Corazza hookup for 7 more. Jesse Fitch ran in the Rebels’ 9th touchdown of the day to make it 67-0 for the home team. In the 4th quarter both teams played many of their backups and a Rebels field goal was sandwiched between two late scores from Chilliwack that made the final Rebels 70 Huskers 13. The Rebels now stand at 3-3 on the season and Chilliwack falls to 0-6.

The Victoria Rebels have one week off then begin 2 weeks on the road starting September 11th against The Vancouver Island Raiders. The Rebels’ next home game is Sunday, Sept. 26th VS Okanagan Sun at 1pm at Bear Mountain Stadium.
