Ravens land CEGEP recruit (VIDEO)

CEGEP defensive lineman becomes first recruit to join OUA team’s 2015 class.

With their first recruit of the 2015 season, the Carleton Ravens have great expectations and also addressed a concern on their defensive line.

This past weekend, the Ravens announced the signing of Bill Aziz.  The 6’2, 275 pound defensive lineman from St. Thomas, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

“Bill is a very strong athletic defensive tackle who can be a force in the middle on run stopping but also get after the passer,” commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah.  “We believe he can be an impact player right away in our defense.”

After his commitment, Aziz issued the following statement regarding his commitment:

“Selecting Carleton University was an easy choice for me. Their outstanding Criminology program is one of the best in Canada and a major determining factor in my decision to become a Raven.”

“Meeting with Head Coach Sumarah, Defensive Coordinator [Ryan] Bechmanis and Defensive Line Coach/Strength and Conditioning Coach [Darrell] Adams on several occasions gave me the opportunity to learn enough about the school, the team and the football program at Carleton to know that I am making an excellent choice for my academic and athletic future with the university.”

“I am excited to be chosen by Coach Sumarah to be a part of his vision for the ultimate CIS team and look forward to doing my part to bring success to the Ravens.”

“I’m looking forward to being coached and trained by such a knowledgeable coach as Coach D.A. (Darrell Adams) whose extensive background and experience as a player in both the NFL and CFL, and his coaching experience with the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Hamilton Hurricanes leaves me confident that I will have many learning opportunities to better myself in the game of football under his very capable instruction.”
