Rams coaches ‘down to earth & approachable’

Rams welcome three out-of-province commits to their 2019 class.

Josh Howe, an athlete from Medicine Hat High School, has the utmost confidence in the University of Regina Rams coaches.

Defensive back Ethan Mather and linebacker Garrett Hatchard from Lloydminster Comprehensive High School will also be joining the Rams.

Josh Howe

When Josh Howe visited the Rams, he knew his search was over. ā€œI really enjoyed how everything was really close together on campus and the way the football coaches hold the team accountable with things like workouts and study hall,ā€ he said. ā€œAlso, all the guys that I talked to were fantastic people and I canā€™t wait to spend more time with them.ā€

Howe, who is interested in education, added that the coaches were ā€œreally down to earth and approachable. Every one of them that I met seems to be fantastic and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them!ā€

Howe grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta, where he played football for nine years. He played high school ball with the Medicine Hat Mohawks (RFC). He was also a member of the Medicine Hat Hawks (Rangeland Bantam Football). The 6ā€™2, 220lbs defensive end and tight end was an RFC champion and RFC all-star.

Ethan Mather

Ethan Mather of Lloydminster, Alberta, is a member of the Lloydminster Barons (WFL) and was named as a key returnee for the 2018 season. He was described as a ā€œhard-hitting defensive back who can cover and play all special teamsā€ and ā€œis also the emotional leader of the defenseā€. He also played with the Kings Red Dogs (LMFA). In 2016 he was named to Team Zone 7 at the Alberta Summer Games.

Garrett Hatchard

Garrett Hatchard is also from Lloydminster and also played with the Barons. Standing at 6ā€™1, 185lbs, he was described as ā€œa sideline-to-sideline linebacker that can blitz and cover.ā€ The Baronā€™s head coach, Harper, said he is a ā€œgreat track and field athlete. He has a really bright future in football.ā€

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
