Niagara Falls linebacker signs with OUA team.
Queenβs Golden Gaels have announced the addition of Ron Jones to their football program.
The 6β0, 200 pound linebacker from Niagara Falls, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.
Among the teams Jones has suited up for during his career include St. Michael Mustangs of the Niagara Region High School Athletic Association (NRHSAA) and Niagara Spears of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
βRon is a great addition to the Queenβs Football team,β commented Golden Gaels Head Coach Pat Sheahan.Β βHe is very physical and very athletic.β
βHe is a linebacker with great cover skills. What attracted us to him was his ability to read, react and finish. He is also a very effective special teamsβ player with a knack for finding the ball. He has a multitude of uses moving forward. He is also the younger brother of CFL lineman Andrew Jones. Ron is a great student at St Michaelβs CHS in Niagara Falls who will study Sociology at Queenβs and has played for the OVFLβs Niagara Spears.β
For his part, Jones chose the Kingston, Ontario campus because it is the place where he can further his success on the gridiron and in the classroom. Β He was convinced after he took in an official visit.
βI chose Queenβs because I believe it was an important step to achieving my goals in academics and athletics,β elaborated the Ontario linebacker.Β βQueenβs is a top notch school in both of these areas and it has always been a dream of mine to attend and play football here.β
βThe visit I had at Queenβs, talking to coaches and players showed me that when you attend, you are part of a great tradition here.β
