Niagara Falls linebacker signs with OUA team.

Queen’s Golden Gaels have announced the addition of Ron Jones to their football program.

Among the teams Jones has suited up for during his career include St. Michael Mustangs of the Niagara Region High School Athletic Association (NRHSAA) and Niagara Spears of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

β€œRon is a great addition to the Queen’s Football team,” commented Golden Gaels Head Coach Pat Sheahan.Β  β€œHe is very physical and very athletic.”

β€œHe is a linebacker with great cover skills. What attracted us to him was his ability to read, react and finish. He is also a very effective special teams’ player with a knack for finding the ball. He has a multitude of uses moving forward. He is also the younger brother of CFL lineman Andrew Jones. Ron is a great student at St Michael’s CHS in Niagara Falls who will study Sociology at Queen’s and has played for the OVFL’s Niagara Spears.”

β€œI chose Queen’s because I believe it was an important step to achieving my goals in academics and athletics,” elaborated the Ontario linebacker.Β  β€œQueen’s is a top notch school in both of these areas and it has always been a dream of mine to attend and play football here.”

β€œThe visit I had at Queen’s, talking to coaches and players showed me that when you attend, you are part of a great tradition here.”
