Quebec recruit keen on “goal-driven” Bishop’s (VIDEO)

Andrew Akinniyi will commence his CIS career back in his native province.

The 6’0, 240 pound defensive end from Thetford Mines, Quebec has signed with Bishop’s Gaiters. Akinniyi will join the team for the 2015 RSEQ season.

Ultimately, there were three main reasons the Akinniyi chose the Lennoxville, Quebec campus.

β€œThere were a number of reasons I decided to go to Bishop’s University,” explained defensive end of his commitment.Β  β€œFirstly, academically they have great programs that relate to my career path.”

β€œThe school is very small and class sizes are small which means I can be more one on one with the teachers. Secondly, some of my family have attended that school and recommended it to me. Thirdly, they have a great coaching staff at bishop’s who are very goal driven and want to create a successful team.”

Akinniyi suited up for his high school team, St. Joseph Jaguars of the National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA).Β  This past season, he recorded five sacks, blocked two PAT’s, had two forced fumbles as well as registered 18 assisted tackles and nine solo tackles.

Additionally, Akinniyi has played for the Ottawa Myers Riders of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL). Β Andrew also suited up for the East Varsity team in the 2015 Ontario Prospect Challenge.
