Quebec Foundation of Athletic Excellence awards scholarships to 7 recruits (incl. 2 #CFC100)

Montreal – The Quebec Foundation of Athletic Excellence is proud to announce the names of the student-athletes that have received scholarships to study and pursue their sporting career in RSEQ schools starting in September, 2015.

Among the recipients are #CFC100 Mathieu Betts and Louis-Mathieu Normandin. Former defensive lineman for CEGEP’s Vieux- Montreal Spartiates, Betts was twice named CEGEP Divsion 1 Defensive Player of the Year (2013, 2014). For his part, Normandin also played for the Spartiates and was named to CEGEP Division 1 All-Star team twice as wide receiver. Teammates on the Canada’s Junior National team in  2014, the CEGEP Division 1 stars will be opponents on the field when the 2015 RSEQ season kicks off.  Betts will be in uniform for the Laval Rouge et Or while Normandin will suit up for Vanier Cup Champions, Montreal Carabins.

“The scholarships are a significant incentive on decision-making process of an elite Quebec student athlete,” said Dr. Patricia Demers, director of scholarship programs and support for athletes. “For a student-athlete, it is reassuring to know that they have access to additional financial support if they choose to stay in Quebec.”

“We are pleased at the Foundation to contribute in our own way to the development of university sports in Quebec.”
