QB/WR carries on tradition, joins StFX

StFX welcomes out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.

FPC Alex Leccese, a quarterback and wide receiver from Preston High School, will be carrying on a family tradition of attending Saint Francis Xavier University after signing with the X-Men.

“I chose to commit to StFX because of (the) family connections I have to the school, as well as the academic reputation and success that the football program has,” the potential nutrition student said.

The 6’2, 200lbs 11-year veteran found there was no fluff and filler with the X-Men coaches. “I love the coaching staff,” he said. “Their honestly throughout the recruiting process was unmatchable.”

He added that he is very excited to work with the new offensive coordinator, Warren Goldie.

In his career, Leccese has won two high school championships in 2012 and 2013 with the Preston Panthers (Waterloo-Cambridge Secondary School Athletic Association). In 2014, he captured the top hit award and a year later, he was a MVP. He was also a back-to-back regional all-star in 2015 and 2016. While with the Cambridge Lions (OVFL), he won a 2015 OMFL championship and a 2016 OVFL championship.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
