During the past four seasons with the Ashbury Colts of the Conference Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA), Bennett Bleeker has grown to love the quarterback position.

Overall, the 6’3, 200 pound pivot knows it’s unique and special opportunity.

“I play quarterback because I think it’s the best position on the field,” explained Bleeker.  “I’ve played all over on both sides of the ball and have found that this position fits me the best and is the most fun”

“I like the leadership role and control I have over the offence as well seeing and being a part of a play that comes together is just great.”

Bleeker’s idol is New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

“Being the quarterback of my favourite team and just what an underdog story his career has been being drafted so late,” added the Colts pivot

However, he tries to emulate Indianapolis Colts pivot Andrew Luck on the field.

“I stay in the pocket most of the time but can scramble if need be,” offered Bleeker.

In his quest to continually improve and excel as a leader on offence, the Colts quarterback is open to instruction and constructive feedback.

“I might make a mistake, but once I’m told about it I’m able to correct that mistake,” expressed Bleeker.

Next month, Bleeker will participate in QB Canada Clinic in Ottawa-Gatineau (April 11th).  He cannot wait to have the opportunity to refine his skills.

“I’m looking forward to developing as a quarterback, my throw and my ability to read defences,” said Bleeker.

Ultimately, the Colts pivot hopes QB Canada takes him one step further in his motivation towards becoming an elite player.

“I want to be able to read defences better and know where to throw against different coverages,” commented Bleeker.
