Playing for Western Mustangs a chance commit couldn’t overlook

Western adds a local commit to their Class of 2018.

Robert Panabaker, a defensive back from London South Collegiate Institute, is part of a dominate high school football team. It’s little wonder why he was drawn to the powerhouse that is the Western Mustangs.

“Their football program speaks for itself and I know I will be able to make myself a better player there,” Panabaker said. “The coaching staff is great. I got to work with them this past summer with the Jr. Mustangs and they taught me a lot.”

Originally from London, Ontario, the 6’0, 185lbs football player has been playing the sport for three years. He spent his high school career with the South Lions (Thames Valley Regional Athletics), which won the TVRA, WOSSA and OFSAA championships last season. While with the London Jr. Mustangs (OPFL) this past summer, his team captured the OFL championship.

Panabaker, who is interested in kinesiology, added he chose Western for its great academics.

“I’m real excited to get started,” he said. “I thought real hard about the possibility of me going away for school, but I couldn’t pass up a school like Western.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
