PEE WEE EXPRESS FALL SHORT AGAINST NORTH HALTON

A hot day on Sunday saw the Peewees come up with 2 touchdowns but fall short 26 to 12. Isaac Mcquade electrified the crowd with his first ever major busting out from his slotback spot for 43 yards. Josh Swift would duplicate that feat a little later with a 49 yard major of his own.

Liam Kelly had his best game of the season with some good kick returns, good runs on offence and threw in some great blocking in addition to some solid defensive work. Young DB Devon Muncey continues to improve as does first year player Zach Crispo. Shane Groves turned in a great effort on the offensive line and Wyatt Hamilton was playing well until his day was cut short by injury. Next action for the peewee squad is next week as a part of a quadruple header of football action at Mel Mitchell which kicks off at 9 am with the world famous EXPRESS BREAKFAST.

The TNT Express Bantams improved their record to 5 – 2 with a 35 – 13 win over the Cambridge Lions. The score was not indicative of how close the game really was, especially in the first half. A scoreless first quarter was highlighted by an impressive goal-line stand by the Express defence. In the second quarter, Cambridge caught TNT’s defence asleep on a long pass play, which resulted in a touchdown. It would be the only time the Lions would lead the Express. A fumble recovery by TNT’s Max Tucker set up
a long pass from TNT quarterback Andrew Tee to wide receiver Jordan Tatar, just shy of the goal-line. Running back Bryan Deans punched in the touchdown to draw the game even at 7 – 7. Later in the quarter, linebacker Mitchell Johnson intercepted a Lion pass to set up TNT’s second touchdown of the game, scored by running back Brian Palmer-Ellerby. The half ended as Cambridge drew closer on a touchdown of their own. Mitchell Johnson blocked the extra point so that the half-time score was TNT 14, Cambridge 13. The Express owned the second half. Running touchdowns were scored by Bryan Deans and Brian Palmer-Ellerby. Safety Hayden Bristow recovered a fumble and returned it 50 yards for a TNT touchdown. James Bickerstaffe was good on 4 converts, while Bryan Deans threw to Brian Palmer-Ellerby for a 2-point conversion.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
