OUA FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK 4: 2 Gee-Gees, 1 U of T blues


HAMILTON, Ont. – The following athletes have been named OUA Football Players of the Week for the period ending September 19, 2010.

OFFENCE: Cyril Adjeitey, Ottawa Gee-Gees, Receiver
Fifth-year receiver Cyril Adjeitey (Ghana), led all Ottawa receivers in yards in Saturday’s game versus McMaster. Adjeitey had five receptions for 152 yards, including his game breaking 106 yard touchdown. In four games so far this season, Cyril is third among Gee-Gees receivers with two touchdowns, and 17 receptions for 316 yards.

DEFENCE: Adam Fehler, Toronto Varsity Blues, Defensive Lineman

Fourth-year defensive lineman Adam Fehler (Toronto) totaled seven tackles, two sacks, one interception and one pass breakup as the Varsity Blues claimed their third consecutive Argo Cup over the York Lions on Saturday. Fehler sacked York quarterback Nick Coutu twice for a combined loss of 16 yards in the second quarter. The Blues went on to win 24-19, with Fehler capping off the 41st annual Red & Blue Bowl with a pass break up on the Lions last drive, ending any threat of a comeback.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Chayce Elliott, Ottawa Gee-Gees, Defensive Back
Fifth-year defensive back Chayce Elliott (Burnaby, B.C.), continued his strong play against the McMaster Marauders this past weekend. In the Gee-Gees 43-35 win, Elliott contributed four kick returns for 136 yards, including the game’s longest return for 62 yards. He also added six punt returns for 48 yards, and a total of 184 yards for the game.
