Ottawa Invaders and NCAFA team up for a worthy cause

The Ottawa Invaders have teamed up with Independent Grocer franchise owners throughout the city and the National Capital Amateur Football Association on a new initiative called “Join the Huddle”. The goal is to create a fund that will support any child that has the desire to play tackle or flag football but may not have the financial means.

The “Join the Huddle” program focus is on creating an all inclusive environment for children throughout the city! The participating Independent Grocer owners will begin selling mini-footballs at their locations on April 14th. All the proceeds will go directly to the “Join the Huddle” fund.

Ottawa Invaders President James McAllister is excited about the Invaders partnership with the program.

“The Ottawa Invaders want to be more than a football team. We want to become a valued member of the community and supporting the “Join the Huddle” initiative simply makes sense. Who knows? Perhaps some day looking ahead some of the kids we support will become Ottawa Invaders”.

Barrhaven Independent Grocer owner Ken Ross looks forward to the new partnership with the Invaders.

“When the idea of creating a program that supports minor football in this manner came up it was easy for the Independent Grocer owners to buy in. Adding a program teammate like the Ottawa Invaders is an example of how supportive the football community can be.

Its a touchdown scored for everyone associated!”

The official launch of the “Join the Huddle” program will take place on the A-Channel Morning Show – Live from the Barrhaven Independent Grocer on Thursday April 14th.
